...the first time I ever attempted welting...yes, welting...you know that "hmmm, how did that thing get there?" piece of fabric that you see on some upholstered pieces of furniture...
Here's how my adventure began...
It's HUGE and they have TONS of stuff...
I always run right back to the furniture department...and, on this particular trip, I scored...big...
This was my little darlin' when I first brought her home from the store...
Ummm...the 70s called...they want their ottoman back...
I knew that she needed to be fixed-up, but I was a little hesitant to try, because I had never "welted" (is that a word?) anything before...but, thanks to the magic that is Google, I found some awesome YouTube videos that helped me a lot... {here they are, if you're interested...this girl does a whole series, so you'll have to just check out the ones you need...}
Seriously, what would I do without the internet? Shhh, I know the answer...spend more time with my kids,cook better dinners, yada yada yada...
Anyway...I found the absolute PERFECT fabric at this amazing shop while cruising etsy and as soon as it arrived, I got started...
Surprisingly, making & sewing welting was really easy...and really fun. It took me only 2 days to finish this ottoman...1 day for the painting, 1 day (actually about 3 hours) for the reupholstering...
Here's the finished product...yes, I know there are a lot of photos...I'm very proud of her...

hiya , love how your foot stool turned out i love the script fabric x what you call welting we call piping ( here in ireland ) and you did a brill job of it , i tried my first attemp at piping last month and i am not ashamed to say i sat admiring it for a long time i didnt want to sit on it just admire it , but serioulsy i will be trying another piping project soon cause i eventually did sit on my chair and now i need something else to admire lol

Wow! This is stunning! I haven't done welting but maybe ONCE in my life and that was on a pillow so I'd definitely need a refresher course! It came out perfect! I love the choice of fabric. I'm still yet to try the welting and have looked at a few videos, but am still a little scared. I'll probably just end up asking my Mum to do it!

I saw a wingback chair at TJ max months and months ago that had that fabric on it. I fell in love with that chair but not the price tag (499.99)! I found a cheap wing back chair and have looked everywhere for that fabric but couldn't find it. You are awesome!!
