Just a reminder that Nikki's (Everything Under the Moon) Random Acts of Kindness Week has started...and I think I have the perfect way to kick it off...

I have a super-special guest here today...Ashley from The Shine Project. She is amazing...just amazing. When she contacted me to do a giveaway I was so excited I think I literally spit the coffee I was drinking across the room...(Gross? Yes. True? Unfortunately, yes.)

You know those girls that are so absolutely gorgeous that you pray they have some horrible personality defect just so that you can say "Well, yeah, she's pretty, but she...(insert horrible personality defect here)" - Yeah...that's Ashley. But guess what...no defects. Nope. She's gorgeous, and kind and sweet and she does wonderful things...here she is to tell you more about herself and her mission...

I created The Shine Project at the beginning of this year to motivate others to go after their goals, and to spread their light to others. I believe that service is the best way to feel happiness and love in our lives, and I created SHINE necklaces to help remind us of our daily purpose.
Money from each necklace sold goes into a scholarship fund to help inner city high school students go to college. You can read more about that HERE and HERE.
The Shine Project is in the process of becoming a Non-Profit organization so that thousands more students can have a positive future.

I believe that no act of kindness is too small or insignificant to perform.
I believe that it's when we feel the most inadequate
that we're able to grow and rise above ourselves.
I believe in miracles. Not because they happen out of nowhere,
but because hard work brings blessings that would otherwise not come.
I believe in reaching goals. Pushing yourself when you feel like you've
reached your outermost limits is how you obtain what you want.
I believe in learning who you are through serving other people.
You can see your potential and abilities when you're using them
to lift and teach others.
I believe that nothing is impossible.
This week, one of you will win a SHINE necklace!
And ALL of you will receive 10% off of your total order! Just use the code Maggie10 in your email to receive your discount.

If I were to win one, I'd give it to Madame Soliette in La Gonave, Haiti who has taken in orphans. She has 72 now. A friend of mine started a coop called Okipe to help equip her with water, safe property, and adequate monthly resources. My friend also has a foundation called, "Shine". When I saw this post I thought of our project immediately. If I could by a bunch, I'd give them to all the friends of mine who sacrifice tons to serve the poor in other countries as a significant reminder of what they are doing: "shining!"
ReplyDeletei would love to gift this to my 12 year old niece that always needs to remember to shine!

ReplyDeleteI know so many women deserving of something so beautiful, but none so deserving as my Mother. She truly let's her light shine, and is an inspiration in how she quietly goes about doing good, beautiful deeds.
