...our {unofficial} last day of summer...

8.20.2011
Yesterday was the {unofficial} last day of summer...the last day for the kids and me to go out and "do stuff" before they start school on Monday...

So, in sticking with the grand old back-to-school tradition, I took the kids to the pet store and bought them hermit crabs. yay.

Ty, the kids' friend Tommy & his puppy, Lulu, & Kate scouting crabs...

We picked up 3 crabs, 3 extra shells (for when those little stinkers get bigger), a cage, food, sponges, etc., etc., etc., and $90 later (yes...$90 later...) the kids have new pets. Like I said before...yay. Let's hope the fascination with these lasts a little longer than it did with the fish...the poor old ignored fish that I now feed and talk to every morning...(I talk to the fish...don't judge).

Then we headed to Johnny Rockets for lunch...

...where T-Bone demonstrated his multi-crayon scribbling talent...

...and I ate these...

...and these...

...and they were awesome...

All in all, I'd say it was pretty darn good last-day-of-summer...and I'm sure the hermit crabs thought it was, too, because now they have a super-cool wire cage to hang out in.
