Random Acts of Kindness Week...Our Contribution

11.18.2011
As you may have read earlier in the week, Nikki at Everything Under the Moon is hosting a Random Acts of Kindness Week...

I love love love this idea. I believe kindness is one of the most important traits a person can possess & I think that teaching our kids to be kind is invaluable...so in an effort to make a small difference in the world my kids and I chose our random act & performed it...

We chose to send new pjs to The Great Sprout Tuck-In...

If you have small children, you may already know about Sprout...it's like PBS on steroids...all preschool kids' stuff...all the time. We have Sprout on ALOT here...and the shows are great, so the kids were really excited to participate in this program...

Here is what the founder of the Pajama Program (the organization that Sprout works with in the Great Sprout Tuck-In) has to say about her mission...

“There are over a half million children in the foster care system, many of whom have never owned a pair of pajamas and who don't know the comforts of a mother or father tucking them into a cozy bed and reading them a bedtime story. It is our mission to deliver a warm pair of pajamas and a book to these children who are going to sleep cold, afraid and lonely, and we are confident that The Great Sprout Tuck-In will help us achieve that goal.”
— Genevieve Piturro, Founder, Pajama Program

We headed out to Wal-Mart to buy our pjs...we picked up 4 pairs (2 girls, 2 boys) and then headed home to package them up...and there I happened to come across 2 more pairs of pjs that were still had tags on them, so they went into the box, too...(sorry, no photos...dead battery...)...
We printed out the form to send along with the jammies & they will be in the mail first thing in the morning...hopefully our small donation will help some little boy or girl feel a little more cozy...
I am so grateful for all that we have & that we are able to help, even if it is just a (very) little bit...
