September Skies meets Project Life® ... plus a free project download!

I've come to the conclusion that no matter how hard I try, I can't slow down how fast my kids' lives are zipping by.

I know, I know...believe me, I've tried.

But what I can do is document what is happening...keep track of & record the things, big & small, that we experience from day to day.

I can "stop the blur"...freeze some of those fleeting moments so that we can remember them...forever.

One of the best ways I know how to do this is with Project Life®...

Today I'm sharing with you a PL spread I created with the new Heidi Swapp September Skies Project Life® Core Kit (available exclusively at Hobby Lobby)...PLUS, I have a FREE project download for you, too!

OK, so here's the left side of the spread...and check out where I used the new Project Life Fuse Tool to add a little sleeve over one of my photos!

See! Up there? I used the Fuse to add a little "menu" over the photo of our friend!

OK...now here's the front side of a little insert I added between the two pages of my spread...

And look! I used the Fuse here again to add 2 more photos to my spread...yayay!

...and here's the back of the insert...

And now for final page of the spread...

And again! With the Fuse I was able to add another photo to my page!

So there you have it! Don't you just love the amount of variety that comes in this Core Kit?

And now for the fun part!

Here's a printable .pdf with all of the supplies and directions you need to create the first page in this spread! Just click "download" below...

I hope I've inspired you to take some of your "frozen moments" and document them...

And don't forget to check out Hobby Lobby stores for a huge variety of Project Life® exclusive Core Kits...including the amazing September Skies Kit!

new letterpress plates at Lifestyle Crafts!

I'm so so excited to share some pocket scrap cards I made using some new letterpress plates at Lifestyle Crafts!

Gotta tell ya...these new plates are some of my favorites...ever. EVER.

First up are these MAP Plates...

So so so amazing...

In this set you get 9 different plates...

...this one is my favorite. I used grey letterpress ink to create the US (the US plate measures roughly 6"x4")...and teal green ink for the dotted arrow. Then I used my water pen and some watercolors to color in Illinois. Man, oh, man!!! I love this!

How great would these be used to document a road trip?

Next up are the SCRIPT Plates...

These gorgeous "brush-script" plates are so beautiful...and they add a little hand-written eclectic feel to your projects.

I dropped some mist on my graphic after I ran it though my Evolution...and then I fussy-cut the word "SMILE" so that I could add it to a photo...

By just adding different ink colors to different areas of the plate you can create completely unique and beautiful designs...

Before I ran this card through my Evolution, I added some watercolor drips...oh, these colors!

Because the letterpress ink dries so quickly, you can quickly add a whole bunch of colors to one card in very little time...or you can skip the color and just deboss the plate pattern itself!

For this run-though I used stamp ink on my plate...and then I dropped some mist across the top...

This final set is the JOURNALING Plates set...

Oh, that "handwriting" just makes me so so happy!

For this first card, I ran the plate through my Evolution without any ink...and then I simply painted some watercolors over the top...

Oh my gosh...I love this "ONE PERFECT DAY" plate...wouldn't this be darling as the cover to a little mini album documenting a day-trip to the beach or a museum?

This little plate would be perfect to title an Albums Made Easy book...or a journal...or a list of daily activities...ooooh, the possibilities!

I used three different colored stamp inks for this last card...there is just something about that ombré look that makes me so happy...

 So fun!

And I gotta tell ya...I'm loving using my letterpress plates with stamp ink! Although the colors are not as vibrant and the lines are not as crisp and clear as they are when you use letterpress ink, I love the look. And I love how quick cleanup is!

Have you tried letterpress yet? If not, are you going to?

There are so many more plates out there now...and they just keep getting better and better! If you're looking for a new craft to add to your arsenal, why not give letterpress a try?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

And don't forget that you can get 20% off anything you purchase from Lifestyle Crafts with the promo code: MIDWESTERN! Yay!!!

using Albums Made Easy cards on layouts...

Hey everybody!

Happy happy Monday! Today I'm sharing something I love...well, a few things I love.

I really really love scrapbooking (duh.) and I really really love pocket-scrapping our day-to-day lives. And now I really really love combining the two...

I've always kept my papers for the two scrap-styles separated...don't ask me why. I just figured that...well,truthfully I don't know what I figured.

BUT, recently, after getting a pack of Albums Made Easy cards from We R Memory Keepers, and after freaking out over the designs and colors, I decided I wanted to combine the two styles.

This is the package I got...

...just look at those gorgeous colors!

I started going through the box and found that, although the pack itself looks really pretty feminine, there are tons of cards that can be used for boy projects! Woo hoo!

I grabbed a bunch of cards I loved and got to work using them as mats under my photos on layouts...here's what I made...

I used just 3 cards on this layout of my son, Grayson...one 4x6 (the green chevron behind the photo) and two 3x4 (one horizontal and one vertical) just to the right of the photo.

The cards set the tone for the colors of my layout, so I just grabbed some things that I thought worked well and add them...and I love the way it turned out!

For this layout of my son, Tyler, I did basically the same thing, except this time I used two 4x6 cards behind my photo and 2 3x4 cards to the right of my photo. Now, you'll have to forgive me...it wasn't until I was editing these photos that I realized I created basically the SAME EXACT layout twice. I guess I just really love the basic design...

Each of these layouts came together in under an hour...probably because I didn't have a whole lot of figuring out to do. The cards dictated the embellishment colors and they were already the perfect size!

Soooo...how would YOU like some of these fantastic Albums Made Easy cards to help make your scrapping easier? You would? Of course you would...

I am giving away 4 sets of cards! Woo hoo! 2 sets of "boyish" cards...and 2 sets of "girlish" cards! Yay!
